DaBaby Drops “Letter To My YN”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

DaBaby knows a thing or two about being a YN.

Here’s how I really feel, and I’m practicing honesty: DaBaby is pressing a little right now. I don’t think he’s taking the best shots at the moment, and that’s coming from a big fan. He’s experimenting with different angles like dedication records, playful joints, and concept tracks, but none of it feels like it’s fully connecting or breaking through the way it used to.

That said, here’s what I respect the hell out of: he’s still shooting. He hasn’t stopped putting music out or testing ideas, and that matters. On Friday, he dropped a new single called “Letter To My YN,” another record with a slightly gimmicky premise.

On the track, DaBaby speaks directly to his younger fans, dropping street wisdom about how to move, what to avoid, and how to survive the chaos around them. I actually like the approach here. He raps with a numb, steady tone over an uptempo trap beat, sounding like someone locked in, focused, and committed to the mission.
