After low projections, 21 Savage proves the numbers still matter.
21 Savage’s WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? is projected to sell 90,000 units in its first week, debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200. That result makes it his seventh career top-ten album, and a major jump from earlier projections that had the album landing at #7 with just 53,000 units. Whoever ran those early estimates might need a meeting.
While 90k still ranks on the lower end compared to some of his past releases, it’s much closer to american dream, which debuted at #1 with 133,000 units. In today’s streaming-heavy climate, that kind of rebound is nothing to sneeze at and shows 21 Savage’s consistency still holds weight.
The album features a strong lineup of collaborators, including Drake, Lil Baby, Latto, Metro Boomin, and G Herbo. Fans are clearly gravitating toward “MR RECOUP” with Drake, which currently stands as the project’s most-streamed track, though “GANG OVER EVERYTHING” remains our personal favorite.
Sonically, the project leans heavily into trap, pairing haunting, dramatic production with 21’s cold-blooded bars about flexing, revenge, and survival. For everyone who doubted the numbers, including us, it’s time to eat crow. 90k is a strong showing in 2025.
