Did Kendrick Lamar Just Tease a New Album?

A casual comment sparks major speculation among Kendrick Lamar fans.

Can we be getting a new Kendrick Lamar album sooner rather than later? Maybe. Recently, Kendrick was heard speaking to someone at what’s believed to be his appearance at TDE’s 12th Annual Christmas Concert in Nickerson Garden in Watts, where he casually said, “we got one coming, say less.” Naturally, Kendrick fans immediately took that as a hint that new music is on the way, possibly even a new album, which honestly wouldn’t be far-fetched.

While GNX has performed extremely well over the past two years and produced massive records like “luther” and “tv off,” the project felt more like a loosie-heavy mixtape than a fully realized Kendrick Lamar album. It came across as something meant to give him fresh material for live performances, especially with the Super Bowl looming, rather than the meticulously crafted, concept-driven work he’s known for.

Because of that, it wouldn’t be surprising if Kendrick is already gearing up to return to that deeply intentional, thought-provoking lane sooner than later. That’s where he tends to thrive the most.

Of course, this could also mean absolutely nothing. For all we know, Kendrick could be talking about dropping a chocolate chip cookie line. Either way, I’m choosing excitement. It’s Kendrick Lamar, why wouldn’t we be hopeful?
