This might be the most remarkable underdog story in hip-hop history.
Pooh Shiesty’s “FDO” just climbed to #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, jumping 41 spots from #53 last week. At this rate, he could realistically crack the Top 10 next week.
I’m not going to lie: I’m kind of flabbergasted by this. Pooh was recently released from federal prison after serving three years and returned home, almost immediately dropping “FDO” as if he had never been gone. The record has no hook, it’s basically straight pressure, and it’s loaded with raw, unfiltered lyrics about who he is and what he’s willing to do to people that he disagrees with. Somehow, that exact formula is now translating into one of the biggest chart moves of the week.
At the same time, I’m not that surprised. Before he went in, Pooh had real momentum. Shiesty Season was a legit moment, selling 65,000+ units and debuting at #4 on the Billboard 200. I just don’t think I realized how strong the demand for him still was until the numbers started moving like this. I’m hella impressed, y’all.
