Jadakiss Says J. Cole Has “The Fall-Off” Album and a Separate Mixtape Coming Soon

Jadakiss hints at two J. Cole projects, reigniting anticipation for what could be the rapper’s final album.

Jadakiss just poured gasoline on the anticipation season for hip-hop.

In a recent statement, the Yonkers legend revealed he’s already heard J. Cole’s new music and claims two projects are on the way: the long-teased album The Fall-Off and a separate mixtape where Cole reportedly raps over some classic LOX beats. According to Kiss, “Cole is coming back in a major way… he’s coming crazy.” That’s not exactly subtle language.

With A$AP Rocky’s DON’T BE DUMB officially out in the wild, The Fall-Off now stands alone as the most anticipated hip-hop project on the horizon. Cole has been framing it as a career-defining moment for years, even suggesting it could be his final album. Add in the fact that he’s said the project has taken nearly a decade to complete, and expectations are naturally sky-high.

But the mixtape detail might be the most exciting part of this revelation. Historically, Cole’s loosest and most dangerous moments tend to surface outside the album format. In 2024, Might Delete Later gave us a version of Cole that sounded unburdened, hungry, and technically surgical. Tracks like “Huntin’ Wabbitz” and “Pi” showcased a rapper rapping for the joy of it, not the rollout. If that energy carries over into a mixtape over LOX-style beats, it could end up being his defining moment this year.

After “The Apology,” Cole owes us something timeless. Hopefully one, or both, of these projects deliver exactly that.
