Victoria Monét returns with the dreamy and understated R&B single “Let Me.”
There are plenty of underrated rappers in the world, but we rarely talk about underrated R&B singers. To me, Victoria Monét falls into that category. Not only does she have a strong voice, but her pen is also one of the best in the game. Last night, she returned to the music scene with a new single called “Let Me.” It is her first single of the year, which is not saying much since it is only February.
Victoria simplifies things a bit with “Let Me.” The track features production built on a classic R&B rhythm and vibe, while she leans into straightforward melodies and a vocal performance that has its passionate moments but remains mostly subdued. At times, she even sounds a bit like Ella Mai, especially when the snaps come in on the beat.
Lyrically, Victoria speaks about wanting to be someone’s Swiss Army knife, detailing all the things she can bring to the table in a relationship. Overall, the track is wonderfully dreamy, refreshingly simple, and undeniably beautiful.
