A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie sets the stage for something huge with the release of “Before Artistry.”

3. PGD (Ft. Kyle Richh & ZEDDY WILL)

I’m not a fan of the energy A Boogie raps with on this track. He sounds like he could use a power nap. That said, music fans will likely enjoy the catchy chorus, along with the bouncy NYC drill vibes coming through both the smooth production and featured guests Kyle Richh and ZEDDY WILL. This is one of the few tracks I actually wanted to go back to.

2. Glitchin

Do you know what I love about “Glitchin”? As the intro to this project, it immediately lets you know A Boogie is still with the s**ts. He raps about denouncing rats, putting women in their place, and being fed up with fake people around him. Despite the aggressive content, he still raps with a smooth, unbothered style that perfectly matches the dark, moody production.

1. Red Light (Ft. Trippie Redd)

Can I be honest? This is the only track on the project that truly feels alive. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie comes through punchy, delivering relentless flows with a sly, confident personality. I love how his style layers perfectly over the gloomy production. Trippie Redd adds even more energy, bringing a wild, untamed presence that really elevates the track. I especially enjoyed how Trippie plays Boogie’s mischievous wingman, the one who probably crashes out and hollas at the ugliest girl in the group.

RGM RATING

(75%)

I really miss the days when A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was an A-list rapper. He had the perfect blend of emotional, melodic raps and gritty street content. When that formula was working, it was unstoppable. The problem is that so many people copied that style and ran with it, leaving him a little in the dust.

With this project, A Boogie proves he still has it, delivering romantic, unapologetic verses, highly infectious melodies, and backdrops that keep you in a chill but modern hip-hop pocket. Do I wish he expanded his sound a bit to show evolution? Sure. Do I believe the project is slightly a snoozefest? Yes. At the same time, this is his style, and he shouldn’t let anyone knock him off his game. If you’re a fan of Boogie, this is a project you will enjoy. I’m not sure how much it moves the needle for others.
