Jamie Foxx Returns to R&B Basics With Heartfelt Single “Somebody”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Jamie Foxx has always been one of my favorite singers.

Holy s**t, it’s 2026 and we’re still getting new music from Jamie Foxx. I’ll tell you what, anytime he sang on The Jamie Foxx Show, I was glued to the TV screen. Beyond that, he had a very solid run in the early 2000s, linking up with everyone from Ye to Drake to Ludacris and releasing highly successful albums like Unpredictable and Intuition. In his new single “Somebody,” he goes back to basics, giving us something sweet and emotional.

“Somebody” is driven by contemporary, soulful production that’s soothing enough to make you want to hold your partner and slowly sway them from side to side. Vocally, Foxx delivers his purest, most comforting performance, sounding like someone who has experienced love and is ready to teach a full class on it. Lyrically, he reflects on the emptiness of a home without that one person who has been part of so many memorable moments.

I don’t know what spurred this release, but I’m down to hear more from Foxx if that singing itch hits again.
