When two pop titans collide, it’s rarely subtle.
The Weeknd recently posted a string of emojis on social media, seemingly acknowledging his four explosive collaborations with Ariana Grande and hinting that a fifth may be on the horizon.
If history is any guide, that fifth explosion could be massive.
Their first collaboration, “Love Me Harder,” appeared on Ariana’s My Everything album and marked an early shift toward a darker, more mature sound. The track cracked the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and showcased the undeniable vocal chemistry between the two. It was sensual, sleek, and radio-dominant.
Years later, they reunited on “Off the Table,” a vulnerable standout from Ariana’s Positions album. Unlike their first hit, this one leaned into emotional healing and restraint. The harmonies were delicate, the production minimal, and the storytelling deeply intimate, showing growth in both artists.
Then came the big one. The remix of “Save Your Tears” took an already successful single from After Hours and launched it into the stratosphere. The remix soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the defining pop moments of 2021. Their voices blended effortlessly over glossy synth-pop production, proving their star power as a duo was still unmatched.
Finally, nearly seven years after its initial release, “Die For You” found new life thanks to Ariana’s remix feature. The updated version climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, turning a beloved fan-favorite into a chart-topping smash. It was nostalgic yet fresh, a rare example of a remix completely revitalizing a track.
Between multiple Top 10 hits and two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s together, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande have built one of the most consistent collaborative track records in modern pop.
So when he posts four explosions… and then hints at a fifth?
Fans are understandably spiraling.
If another record is on the way, their track record suggests it will be a major release, not just another song.
