Gorillaz’ “The Mountain” is projected at #8, featuring Black Thought, Bobby Womack, and Proof.
Gorillaz are back in the spotlight with their highly anticipated new album, ‘The Mountain,’ which debuts at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with 53,000 first-week units. The total includes 15.86 million on-demand streams and 38,000 pure album sales, highlighting the band’s continued ability to attract both dedicated buyers and strong streaming engagement.
The album marks Gorillaz’ first studio release since 2023 and continues the group’s long-running tradition of genre-blending experimentation paired with their animated storytelling universe. ‘The Mountain’ leans into the band’s signature fusion of alternative, hip-hop, dub, and electronic elements, crafting a soundscape that feels expansive while still maintaining an intimate emotional core.
A major part of the album’s appeal comes from its impressive lineup of collaborators, including Black Thought, Bobby Womack, Proof, and Yasiin Bey. Each guest adds their own texture to the project, helping shape an album that moves fluidly between reflective lyricism, soulful instrumentation, and Gorillaz’ distinctive production style.
