GAWD Opens Up on Trust and Denial in “Lie To Me”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

GAWD explores the tension between truth and denial through emotional storytelling.

Rising R&B duo GAWD continue to build their name through rich harmonies, sharp songwriting, and undeniable chemistry. Fresh off collaborations with artists like Durand Bernarr and appearances tied to Anderson .Paak’s creative world, the duo is now gearing up for their debut album, set to arrive later this summer. Their latest single, “Lie To Me,” offers an early glimpse into that evolving sound.

“Lie To Me” thrives in emotional contradiction. It captures that fragile moment when intuition is loud, but the heart still clings to denial. The production, handled by Stanley Randolph and Poe Leos, leans into a lonely atmosphere while layering in deep bass and a hypnotic melody that pulls you inward. It feels futuristic, yet grounded in classic R&B emotion.

Vocally, GAWD delivers a dynamic performance packed with intensity. Their harmonies glide effortlessly, while subtle aggression adds weight to every line. The chorus feels massive, almost cinematic, amplifying the emotional stakes of the record.

Everything about the track feels intentional and bold. From the production to the vocal delivery, “Lie To Me” stands as a powerful statement. It’s not just about being deceived, it’s about knowingly standing in that space and feeling everything that comes with it.
