The Lox Open Up on Loyalty and Growth in “Never Change”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This feels like the kind of wisdom you’d get from OGs at a cookout.

Legendary Yonkers trio The Lox, made up of Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch, have long been pillars of gritty, authentic hip-hop. Known for their street wisdom and timeless chemistry, they continue to prove their relevance with new releases, which is wild considering they’ve been in the game since Biggie was alive. Their latest offering, “Never Change,” brings them together with Jaheim and Trent Shelton for a reflective, emotionally grounded track.

Built on a soulful instrumental with knocking drums and touching piano notes, the song creates a space for honesty and perspective. It also has the perfect style to allow each voice to land with purpose.

Lyrically, The Lox stay true to form. Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek deliver verses centered on loyalty, navigating betrayal, and maintaining integrity through success. Their flows are steady and direct, cutting through the beat with clarity and confidence.

Jaheim adds rich, melodic vocals that bring emotional depth, while Trent Shelton backs him up in certain moments. To me, they complete the emotional side of the track.

I feel like you aren’t a legendary rapper unless you have a track like this. I’m glad The Lox added this to their resume.
