Colby! Gets Real About Love and Loss on “Who’s Your Angel Now”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Turns out halos don’t come with return policies.

Colby! isn’t trying to fit into a box, and that’s exactly why she’s catching attention. The Texas-bred artist has been crafting her own alt-pop lane since her teens, leaning into creativity shaped by her background, influences like Amy Winehouse and Gwen Stefani, and even her dyslexia. The result is music that feels both unfiltered and intentional, like she’s writing straight from instinct rather than formula.

On “Who’s Your Angel Now,” she taps into something deeply personal. Built on plucky production with a vintage, almost 80s-tinged aesthetic, the track feels soft on the surface but cuts underneath. The story comes from a past relationship where she was labeled “the angel,” the one who always showed up and did everything right. But after walking away, that identity didn’t stick the same.

Vocally, Colby! floats over the beat with an airy, almost cloud-like tone that fits the theme perfectly. As for the chorus, it is passionate, sticky, and easy to latch onto.

All in all, “Who’s Your Angel Now” isn’t just a breakup song; it’s a quiet identity crisis wrapped in a pretty melody.
