“Kehlani” looks like her biggest release yet.
Kehlani is officially in a major moment. Her self-titled album Kehlani has debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with around 69,000 units, including 45.37 million on-demand streams and 24,000 pure sales. That not only gives her the biggest debut sales week for an R&B album by a woman this year, but also marks her fourth top 10 album on the chart.
Earlier projections had her landing around 67K, so this slight bump just adds to an already strong showing. Either way, this is a serious milestone and proof that this era connected.
She stepped into it with real momentum thanks to “Folded,” a Grammy-winning single that sparked multiple remixes and reminded people she can still deliver records that hit emotionally and commercially.
Then there’s the title. Artists don’t go self-titled unless it means something. It usually signals reinvention, vulnerability, or a statement piece. Translation: she took this one personally.
The guest list is stacked, featuring Lil Wayne, Bryson Tiller, Clipse, Brandy, Missy Elliott, Leon Thomas, Usher, and Big Sean. Compared to Crash’s 19,668 units in 2024, this is a massive leap.
Put simply, if respect were currency, Kehlani just printed more.
