mgk & Wiz Khalifa Tap Into Retro Vibes on “Girl Next Door”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

mgk and Wiz Khalifa bring strong chemistry to “Girl Next Door.”

When it comes to artists willing to blur genre lines, mgk and Wiz Khalifa have built strong reputations for doing exactly that. mgk has spent the last several years diving headfirst into pop punk and alternative sounds, while Wiz Khalifa has always been comfortable mixing laid-back melodies with traditional rap elements. With the two preparing for their upcoming Lost Americana Tour, linking up for a collaboration honestly felt inevitable.

“Girl Next Door” leans heavily into an upbeat, retro-inspired sound that feels straight out of the ’80s in the best way possible. The production is packed with lively energy, catchy instrumentation, and enough bounce to make the track feel built for summer drives with the windows down.

Wiz Khalifa kicks things off with his usual effortless charm, mixing relaxed bars with melodic touches that slide naturally over the production. Meanwhile, mgk comes through sounding energized, balancing melodies with a more aggressive vocal tone that gives the track an extra edge. The chemistry between the two artists is easily the song’s biggest strength.

If you f**k with both of these artists, you will really like this track. It is both of them at their best.
