“Code Breach OST” perfectly balances futuristic tension with emotional and nostalgic moments.
Eric Guenther has a unique ability to create music that fully absorbs listeners into the atmosphere he builds. His latest fourteen-track project, Code Breach OST, immediately throws you into a world filled with tension, movement, emotion, and cinematic detail.
While the album is tied to the upcoming visual novel Code Breach, it works equally well as a standalone electronic record influenced by French electronic music, J-fusion, synthwave, and retro sci-fi soundtracks. Guenther cites acts like M83, Air, Carpenter Brut, and Casiopea as inspirations, and those influences can be heard throughout the album’s sound palette.
The project begins with “Start // Main Theme,” which wastes no time establishing the tone. Heroic synths, an exciting drum pattern, and action-heavy pacing make the track feel like the opening scene of an intergalactic blockbuster. From there, the album constantly changes moods without losing momentum. Some sections feel bright and hopeful, while others sound dark, dangerous, and unpredictable.
Tracks like “Church” bring chaotic energy through aggressive textures and frantic pacing, almost sounding like the score to a cyberpunk antihero movie. “Mission ACTION” leans heavily into retro-futuristic sounds that feel straight out of an ‘80s sci-fi universe. Then there’s “MC APT,” which carries a triumphant energy that resembles a video game protagonist finally overcoming impossible odds.
The slower moments stand out just as much. “Rescue” creates tension through eerie ambiance and unsettling sound design that makes every second feel suspenseful. Meanwhile, “Train Ambience” somehow combines the comfort of a late-night train ride with the pulse of a neon-lit underground club.
What ultimately separates Code Breach OST from standard soundtrack material is how vivid and alive it feels. Every track seems built to deepen the emotional and cinematic experience. By the end, the project reveals itself to be nostalgic, atmospheric, emotional, transportive, and surprisingly touching throughout. Whether it’s your vibe or not, I highly recommend you let this body of work take hold of your mind, body, and spirit. I did, and it was a fantastic ride.
