Conway the Machine sounds like someone who raps purely for the love of it, which helps explain his constant output of projects. His latest, I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES with DJ Whoo Kid, features 16 tracks packed with bars that rank among the best you’ll hear today. He moves comfortably across both old-school and modern production, including Drake’s “Make Them Pay,” Clipse’s “Whips & Chains,” “TV Off,” and even a flip of 702’s “Steelo.” He has fun experimenting with different sounds, but as usual, he leans into gritty braggadocio, street talk, and sharp gun bars throughout.
