Ye decided to mess around in “GEMINI SEASON.”
One of the biggest differences between BULLY and some of Ye’s previous projects was the level of focus. For the most part, the album felt intentional and surprisingly serious. “GEMINI SEASON,” however, throws much of that seriousness out the window.
Released on Ye’s birthday and slated to appear on BULLY (DELUXE), the track feels like the musical equivalent of someone deciding to ignore responsibilities for the day and simply have fun. From the opening seconds, listeners are greeted by dramatic horns, playful flute melodies, and production that sounds like it could soundtrack a forgotten sitcom from the 1970s.
Lyrically, Ye isn’t saying much of anything important. He talks about getting kinky and blurts out random words like “nipples” and “h*es.” It almost sounds like the musical version of a porn search.
Is the song good? Not really. However, it is entertaining, and the production is surprisingly solid throughout. I still recommend giving it a spin. Now, if you end up adding it to your library and playing it every day, I might actually judge you.
