AZ Chike Turns Up the Momentum With Hard-Hitting Energy on “Packed Up”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

AZ Chike is on fire right now.

I feel like the hip-hop game could use some new blood, and someone who has the potential to bring that energy is AZ Chike. After making an impact with his performance on “peekaboo,” he has continued increasing his output, and every release feels like another step forward. On Friday, he delivered his latest single, “Packed Up.”

On “Packed Up,” AZ Chike spends the track flexing his ass off. In particular, he talks about stacking money, overcoming doubters, and earning everything through hard work and consistency. He also touches on pimpin, which is OK when you’re winning.

The most interesting part of the track is the production. It carries a smooth, polished feel but also features huge horn arrangements that give it a bold, almost Drumline-inspired energy. AZ Chike rides the instrumental effortlessly, letting his Cali accent and laid-back yet sharp delivery carry the song.

Lowkey, AZ Chike experiments a lot in his music. You just can’t tell because he always sounds like he’s under the influence of a sedative.
