GOD, I love Lupe Fiasco.
There are certain artists who completely change the way you view music, and for me, Lupe Fiasco is one of those artists. If it wasn’t for him, I’m honestly not sure this site would exist. Growing up, I spent countless hours listening to The Cool and Food & Liquor, and those projects helped create my love for hip-hop.
Even though Lupe hasn’t been as active in recent years, his discography remains legendary. Recently, he teamed up with Nu Deco Ensemble for a special live album based on their performance in Miami Beach.
The project takes some of his most recognizable songs, including “Kick Push,” “Go Go Gadget Flow,” “Paris, Tokyo,” and “Superstar,” and gives them a completely new presentation. The live instrumentation adds a gorgeous, cinematic feeling that highlights just how strong these records are.
What makes this release special is hearing these classics transformed through live instrumentation. The arrangements are absolutely beautiful, adding a cinematic layer to songs that already stood the test of time. Lupe also brings incredible energy and personality to every performance, reminding listeners why he has always been such a strong live performer.
I know this isn’t a new album, but I highly recommend you listen to it.
