Freedust & Bardo’s “Weight Up” Blends Artistic Production With Slick Hip-Hop Energy

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Freedust continues to separate himself from the pack with “Weight Up,” a late-night standout from his Voyager project that immediately grabs your attention thanks to its unique sound and artistic direction. Born in Chicago, raised in Japan, and now based in Puerto Rico, Freedust draws from a wide range of influences, and that global perspective shines throughout the track.

“Weight Up” features one of the most interesting instrumentals you’ll hear today. Built around a smoky, sample-driven groove that fuses hip-hop, soul, funk, and touches of Latin warmth, it has the sound of something you would hear at an art exhibit, but it also carries enough knock to entice hip-hop fans.

Over the beat, Bardo raps about chasing success, taking trips to Venice, and lapping his competition every chance he gets. His steady, completely unbothered rap style complements the backdrop perfectly, while Bardo’s velvet baritone glides effortlessly across the chorus, adding a smooth, soulful touch that gives the song even more personality.

Overall, “Weight Up” is a unique listen that showcases Freedust’s willingness to take risks while still delivering an enjoyable hip-hop experience.
