Trae Young proved his rivalry with the Knicks is still alive and well.
Trae Young isn’t letting go of his rivalry with the New York Knicks.
During Fanatics Fest in New York, Washington Wizards star Trae Young went viral after appearing to rip a Jalen Brunson Knicks jersey during a WWE segment. If that wasn’t enough trolling, the day before he posted a video of himself driving into New York while watching highlights of himself torching the Knicks during his Atlanta Hawks days. Safe to say, Trae didn’t come to make friends. He came looking for all the smoke.
Young’s confidence isn’t exactly unfounded. In 2021, he led the Hawks past the Knicks in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs, averaging nearly 30 points per game while turning Madison Square Garden into his personal stage. Since then, he’s continued embracing the role of New York’s basketball villain with memorable celebrations, including rolling dice on the Knicks’ logo after eliminating them from the NBA Cup.
The timing of the trolling also makes sense. Trae recently signed a four-year, $212 million extension with the Wizards, who now feature Anthony Davis, AJ Dybantsa, and one of the league’s most intriguing young cores.
If there wasn’t already enough intrigue surrounding future Wizards-Knicks matchups, Trae Young may have just added another layer to one of basketball’s most entertaining rivalries.
