Sheff G proves growth doesn’t mean losing intensity on his strongest and most personal project yet.
If you’ve followed Sheff G’s career from the beginning, you know his journey hasn’t been an easy one. From breaking into Brooklyn drill as a teenager to overcoming countless personal obstacles, he’s experienced more than most artists his age (Hell, even my old-ass age). That growth is impossible to ignore on his newest album, Weight On Me.
Rather than relying solely on aggressive street records, Sheff G expands his sound with a project that balances introspection and anthems built for milder territory. The result is an album that feels extremely personal and accessible, giving fans a clearer picture of the man behind the music.
His performances are outstanding throughout. The jailed rapper maintains the confident flows, gritty delivery, and slick punchlines that helped make him a star, but he also sounds more emotionally invested than ever. Whether he’s discussing internal battles, loyalty, success, or finding dependable people in his corner, every verse carries real weight.
The production deserves plenty of praise as well, mixing cinematic melodies with booming drill drums to create an emotional backdrop. Add in guest appearances from G Herbo, Wallie The Sensei, and Skrilla, and you have a project packed with memorable moments. Standout records include “Grind 4,” “My Love,” and “Woke Up,” though honestly, the entire album delivers.
