This beat is nuts, y’all.
This feels like an important time for Trippie Redd. While his s**t isn’t hitting like it used to, I still think he has it. That includes the appeal, the solid songwriting, and an uncanny ability to pick unbelievable beats. That said, I need his upcoming NDA project to hit.
The first official single from it, “SWAGGER,” has officially landed on streaming services, and my early impressions are good.
“SWAGGER” features one of my favorite beats of the year. It blends heavy bass with soulful elements and pure chaos. That s**t made me want to cry, destroy some s**t that didn’t deserve it, and then call the police.
Trippie Redd bounces all over the track, giving us soulful singing at times while rapping like the coolest dude on the block at others. The funny thing is that my favorite part of the song is him randomly blurting out “swagger” at spaced-out intervals.
If the verses were a little more meaningful, I honestly think this track would’ve been a surefire hit. I do think it’s very good, though.
