Young Thug decided to shoot his shot with signing Quavo.
Young Thug is always thinking about his next move, and judging by a recent post on social media, he might already have his sights set on adding another major name to the YSL roster.
Though Young Thug’s most recent releases haven’t quite hit the way I hoped they would (I’m looking at you, UY SCUTI and Business Is Business), his influence on the hip-hop game is still massive. Lately, he’s been using that influence to bring young talent like diamond* and Tezzus into YSL. Now, it looks like he’s trying to recruit one of the biggest names in rap: Quavo.
On Instagram, Thug posted a message aimed directly at Quavo, writing, “Leave Capital [Records] and come with us brada we need u.”
Would Quavo actually make the jump? The two have been close for years, collaborating on tracks like “Pass Out,” “Upside Down,” “Liger,” and “Focused.” I could honestly see it working, as long as Quavo doesn’t mind having Thugger playing the role of label boss. I mean, Gunna did it for a few years and was highly successful.
Whether Young Thug was serious or just trolling, I need more tampering like this in the hip-hop game. There’s no salary cap in the game.
