5. Still (Ft. Bruno Mars)

I’m sorry. Featuring WHO? Okayyy!

My first thought was, “Are you kidding me? What is Bruno Mars doing here?!” That said, I really enjoyed this collab. I think their voices and music styles complement each other very well.

As a whole, the song sounds very romantic and sensual, as one would expect with these two artists. KAROL G’s vocals are sweet, while the lyricism is a beautiful mix of love, heartbreak, and deep yearning.

4. Alguien que te amaba

Oh wow. Almost a throwback, but in a modern way.

As a Latina raised in a semi-traditional family, I really love the sound here. The instrumental gives off old-school vibes, very reminiscent of some of the greats and classic artists in Latino music.

The song touches on love falling apart after thinking the relationship would last forever. It’s heartache wrapped in a nostalgic sound that can lure in any romantic or Latino listener.

3. MATADORA

Killer body. Maneater. That giiiirl.

Okay, this is more of what I expected when I pressed play on a new KAROL G album. “MATADORA” has more of that urban genre vibe that characterizes most of her hits. To me, it’s giving that bad B energy that encourages dancing and confidence, as it’s a lot less romantic and more of a fun, club vibe. KAROL is here to look good and feel great, OK!

2. Después de ti (Ft. Greg Gonzalez)

Lover girl central.

I really like the romantic, nostalgic, soft-girl energy KAROL G brought into the studio here. The song debuted live at Coachella last year, and personally, I think it was a great intro and soft launch for her new album.

“Después de ti” perfectly encapsulates the album’s title and vibe. “Después de ti” is all about missing your ex-lover and how different life feels without them after loving them so hard. KAROL really showed off her lover side in this song, capturing feelings of yearning, heartbreak, and still seeing them in her mind.

1. BbY WOW (Ft. Judeline & rusowsky)

Dancing, crying, just a little bit of everything.

“BbY WOW” is such a deceivingly upbeat song. The lyrics are all about missing your lover and thinking about them so much that trying to forget them or going to therapy won’t change anything, but then the beat drops.

Can you be sad and nostalgic while moving your hips to the beat? I can. These collabs add a new vibe to the song, and I really liked the different vocals coming together here. Absolutely my favorite on this album.

KAROL G’s newest album, NO ME ARREPIENTO DE SENTIR TANTO, is much more vulnerable and romantic than I expected. The title directly translates to “I DON’T REGRET FEELING SO MUCH,” and I think it’s perfect for the amount of authentic emotion she put into this album. It feels like a genre-bending project that tells the story of her mind and heart on a deeply personal level.
