AZ Chike and Tyler, The Creator finally appear ready to put their long-teased collaboration on wax.
AZ Chike and Tyler, The Creator are linking up, and considering everything happening around LA’s hip-hop scene right now, this feels like a pretty exciting collaboration. The two artists have teased a new song called “LOOK LIKE MY MAMA,” with the collaboration expected to drop August 28.
A video posted online shows Tyler and AZ Chike outside at night, talking their s**t about the upcoming record while throwing around plenty of heavy Cali slang. Then, naturally, they cut the act right at the end. The two have been hinting at working together for the past few months, so fans have had reason to expect something. Still, there’s a big difference between teasing a collaboration and actually seeing one potentially become a real song.
AZ Chike is currently preparing for his first major-label album debut, N.R.F.T.W. (No Rest for the Wicked), which is coming through Warner Records. While the project doesn’t have an exact release date yet, “LOOK LIKE MY MAMA” is expected to appear on it.
AZ Chike has been building serious momentum since his feature on Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, and he’s continued making noise since then. Tyler obviously needs little introduction, with multiple Grammy wins and a catalog that speaks for itself.
There’s no telling what this collaboration will sound like yet, but the pairing makes sense. Two LA artists with completely different approaches coming together could make for something special. Either way, I’m looking forward to hearing it.
