I love how much Ice Spice promotes fighting on this track.
Ice Spice has been pretty quiet since that infamous McDonald’s incident in Los Angeles, but she finally decided to pop back up with “Out My Face (My Baby),” bringing Lil Yachty along with her.
The production on this track is punchy and aggressive, like it was designed specifically to soundtrack an ass-whipping. Ice Spice doesn’t waste the opportunity, delivering cold raps about her expensive lifestyle, her bangin’ body, and being more than willing to throw hands when somebody crosses her. She sets the tone fantastically.
Then Lil Yachty enters and completely changes the atmosphere. The beat gets more futuristic and moody, giving the song a strange rhythm. Yachty matches that perfectly with a robotic flow while talking about brainwashing his girl and doing whatever the hell else is going on in his head. Ice jumps back in during this portion, continuing to talk her s**t and reminding everyone that she isn’t interested in letting a McDouble hit her face again.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Ice’s writing is quite as sharp during the second half. Her opening performance is much more memorable.
If Ice Spice’s next era will be filled with violence, sign me up.
