The timing on ‘Cold’ makes the lyrics feel so fun, even though they’re actually rather dark. It’s longing, missing something or someone that’s not there, and just needing love in your life. It’s that feeling of heaviness, emptiness, and coldness you get when you’re lonely or heartbroken.

They definitely put lyrics that hurt me over music that made me wanna throw it back, and I’m both confused and intrigued. Like, why am I dancing when you’re making me sad?

4. The Reason

‘The Reason’ has heavy 808s and funky synths, and it feels party-ready. It’s full of intense emotions and sappiness, but in a way that makes you feel high. This is the song to play for someone who means everything to you, who feels like a part of your soul at this point. They bring out the very best of you, and they’re the reason you are where you are. It’s big, dramatic, romantic energy, and I’m absolutely here for it.

This song starts with synths and an ’80s-style beat, but it feels very modern and cool. ‘Island Time’ is sensual and vulnerable, flirty and open. It’s about making love, getting close, and losing time with someone who makes you feel unstoppable.

It feels like humid nights, city streets, Mai Tais, and someone you love. It’s one of those songs that immediately gives you a whole setting in your head, and suddenly you’re mentally on vacation.

2. Strangers

‘Strangers’ feels emotional from the start. It’s slower, quieter, and more focused on the vocals to carry the track, and they do for sure. It’s about a low point in a relationship, a heaviness that’s washed over y’all as a couple, and a dynamic that’s changed.

This kind of feeling makes you look back at what you were when you first met and wonder: if you two were strangers again, would it feel different? Would things be different? It’s a really bittersweet question, especially when you still care about the person sitting on the other side of it.

See You Again gives me a very indie-pop vibe, with flirty guitar and a light beat. It feels like summer sun and ice cream and falling in love. It’s reuniting with someone and reminding them that even when you leave, you’re still coming back, because you want nothing more than to be by their side. Majid Jordan is not a duo to be trifled with, and Two Roads is proof of that. The album listens like a steamy novella, packed with romance and heat and lust and a whole lot of problems. We hear about the blissful moments in a relationship as if we are actually involved in the romance, and when the darker, heavier moments come, they hit hard. There’s a lot of questioning, doubt, and pain, but beneath all of that lingers hope through every single track.

Two Roads is R&B-heavy, with major ’80s pop influences. It’s creamy vocals and music with movement. The album is relatable without being too much, and lighthearted without taking away from the words. I really love that balance because even when the lyrics get heavy, the music still gives you something to enjoy.

Overall, this one was easy on the ears and made me want to stay. It’s romantic without being overly cheesy, sensual without becoming repetitive, and emotional without dragging you down. There’s enough movement throughout the album to keep things interesting, but everything still feels like it belongs together. Honestly? I think Majid Jordan found the sweet spot here.
