Today is an exciting day for Rosé fans.
In a recent interview, Rosé confirmed to Elle Magazine that she’s been working on a new album. This will be the first album to follow her record-breaking debut album rosie.
On the recording process, Rosé shared that “Ultimately, summer is a time for me to make music, discover myself and find my sound.” Additionally, “This time, I’m working in Korea and I feel like the time I’ve spent getting through this intense humidity will become a scene from the new album.”
“Working on an album is a time when I dive deep into every part of myself. I see sides of myself that I don’t want to face, and it feels like putting those past moments together in a time capsule,” she continued.
I am very excited about this. I’m a longtime BLACKPINK fan, and I love Rosé’s solo music, too. At the same time, rosie didn’t have a super unique sound as a whole. I’m hoping that Rosé’s sophomore solo album will define her individual artistic voice further. It did have great songs, and I love her writing style, but I’m hoping that her next album will define what makes Rosé Rosé.
I do think that it’s really cool how different her solo music is from BLACKPINK’s, and I wonder how that will translate when she records in Korea rather than the US. In the States, she worked primarily with American producers like Carter Lang and Bruno Mars, the latter of whom she sang the smash hit “APT.” with. I wonder if she’s been working with BLACKPINK’s producer Teddy Park or different collaborators for her next album. I can’t wait to hear whatever tidbits she hopefully continues to share as she works on it.
