Lil Wayne Delivers a Rock-Trap Packers Anthem With “Special Ops”

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Go Pack, Go?

If you’ve followed Lil Wayne for all these years, you know he loves a few different things: Making toilet punchlines, eating homemade food, and his Green Bay Packers. Yesterday, he dropped a new anthem for the latter, giving Packers fans something to blast as they prepare for another season.

In “Special Ops,” Wayne raps over an edgy rock-trap instrumental packed with elements designed to get stadiums full of drunk people hyped. He uses the track to talk about Green Bay’s chances this year while sending shots at their division foes, including the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and Minnesota Vikings.

Unfortunately, not everything lands.

The chorus is pretty cringe, and Wayne spends much of the song sounding like he’s on the verge of upchucking his entire lunch.

Still, “Special Ops” has some moments that hit, and Packers fans will probably appreciate the effort regardless. As for me, I’ll let Wayne handle Green Bay. Let’s go Jets.
