5. Irreplaceable

As played as this song has been over the past 20 years, it felt wrong not to add it to the list. “Irreplaceable” has been belted out on road trips, sung through tears during angry breakups, and played at school dances for two decades, y’all. This song single-handedly carried me through teen crushes gone wrong, karaoke girls’ nights, and so much more.

As a child, I was singing these lyrics with my chest, having no idea what they meant, and as a grown woman, they resonate and still work. It feels nostalgic but timeless.

4. Flaws and All

“Flaws and All” feels like admission, admiration, and acceptance. It’s that magic realization you have when there’s someone you can fully be yourself around, and you know they aren’t going anywhere.

Not a single soul is perfect. Sometimes I can be difficult, sometimes I’m moody, sometimes I’m downright mean, but even through all that, there is still someone here who is by my side, who cares, who loves me. Beyoncé portrays this beautifully.

3. Morning Dew (DONK)

“Morning Dew” is about a type of love that makes you feel youthful and renewed. It’s all butterflies in the belly, fuzzy feelings everywhere, and the inability to keep your hands off this person.

Things are steamy, flirtatious, and light, and with the song’s infectious repetition and bubbly beat, it’s impossible to want to skip.

2. Resentment

“Resentment” is about trust being broken, and the anger and hurt that comes along with that. At one point, you believed everything that this person said to you, said about you, and claimed to feel for you. But now, it just feels like none of that was real, like all of it was a lie.

And you’re tired of pretending you’re not mad, pretending that everything is fine when it’s not. This person hurts you, and now you want them to feel that.

I’ve always been a sucker for Dreamgirls, and this is one of my favorite songs in the movie. It hurts me every. Single. Time.

It screams independence and doing what’s best for yourself, even if it hurts. It’s leaving the life you knew and the person you once loved and moving on, healing through the pain and looking forward. It’s finding strength after feeling isolated.

The way Beyoncé sings this song gives me chills. There’s so much power and emotion here, and it really makes it sit with you. Perfection.

Beyoncé is back with her 20th anniversary edition of the 2006 album B’DAY, and it’s better than ever. The album is 31 tracks long, with a playtime of two hours, and it’s honestly worth every minute.

B’DAY’s 20th anniversary edition features some new tracks, some remixes, and some of the classic album tracks in different languages. The album has an R&B and hip-hop focus, with other genre and cultural influences throughout.

Listening to this album fully through for the first time in years felt very nostalgic for me, and the bonus tracks all fit like they were always there. The album is full of romance, sex, and reflection, and it’s really powerful and confident.

Overall, I think this album is timeless and beautiful, and our Queen Bey isn’t going anywhere.
