It looks like a new rap beef may be brewing. Yeat has returned with “ON NOTHING,” a charged single that appears to contain several shots aimed at Travis Scott. The tension seemingly traces back to reports surrounding Young Thug’s “Eater.” Yeat was reportedly removed from the track by one of its featured artists, with speculation pointing toward either Future or Travis. Based on these new bars, Yeat seems to believe Travis made the call.
Before getting lost in the possible disses, though, we have to acknowledge how dope the song sounds. Yeat attacks the beat with a slippery, unpredictable flow, while the futuristic, almost mechanical production makes everything feel ridiculously action-packed. Lyrically, he positions himself as a lone wolf and seemingly targets Travis through repeated references to flames—a possible nod to Scott’s La Flame nickname.
Honestly, hip-hop could use a brouhaha like this. Kendrick Lamar and Drake gave us an unforgettable battle, but watching two other major rappers like Yeat and Travis Scott trade records could be very interesting. This first punch by Yeat was cool, but I’ma need it to escalate more after this.
