Rod Wave has secured his fourth Billboard 200 No. 1, even though “Don’t Look Down” opened below its initial projections and his two previous albums.

Rod Wave’s Don’t Look Down has officially debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 99,000 equivalent album units. The final total includes 90,000 streaming-equivalent units, driven by 95 million official on-demand streams, along with 9,000 pure album sales. The 24-track project keeps its guest list relatively short, with Luv Von and Summer Joy making appearances. Songs such as “2017 (Streamer U),” “Mainstay,” and “I Am” have emerged as early favorites among listeners.

While claiming the top spot is obviously a major win, Don’t Look Down finished below the original first-week projection of 115,000–125,000 units. It also opened lower than Rod Wave’s previous project, Last Lap, which earned 127,000 units and debuted at No. 2. His biggest opening remains Nostalgia, which launched with 137,000 units and became his third consecutive No. 1 album.

Still, debuting at No. 1 with nearly 100,000 units is nothing to sneeze at—especially in today’s climate. Rod Wave continues to prove that his loyal fan base will show up whenever he releases something new. While the final number fell short of expectations, another chart-topping album is certainly nothing for him to worry about.
