Ella Langley leads a commercially dominant group spanning country, folk, hip-hop, K-pop, and pop.
1. Ella Langley – Dandelion (2.3 Million)

There is something special about watching a new act completely own a calendar year, and Ella Langley has done exactly that. “Choosin’ Texas” has already entered rare territory, spending an incredible 22 weeks and counting atop the Billboard Hot 100. Even more impressive, Ella’s success is not tied to one song. “I Can’t Love You Anymore” and “Be Her” have also connected in major ways, showing that listeners are invested in the artist, not merely the hit.
Dandelion is living proof that an album does not need the year’s biggest debut to ultimately win the race. It opened with 169,000 units but has since outlasted every project ahead of it to become 2026’s bestselling album.
2. Noah Kahan – The Great Divide (1.9 Million)

Noah Kahan may have the strongest underdog story in music this year.
He does not dominate celebrity headlines, and the Billboard Hot 100’s top five has not exactly been his permanent residence. Still, The Great Divide sits at No. 2 among the year’s best-selling albums and is closing in on two million total units.
That success was not built on empty hype; it came through remarkable longevity and an intensely loyal following. Perhaps the album’s performance says something about American listeners right now: Sometimes, people would rather hear honest, straightforward music than another carefully manufactured spectacle covered in unnecessary glitter.
3. Drake – ICEMAN (1.8 Million)

Drake was always going to claim the highest-ranking hip-hop project on this list with ICEMAN.
Facing more pressure than ever, Drake turned that tension into a sharp, vengeful, and ridiculously entertaining project. Between its minimal guest list, excellent production, and enormous songs like “Janice STFU,” ICEMAN gave him everything he needed to reclaim his position. Go ahead and engrave his name on that Comeback Player of the Year trophy.
4. BTS – ARIRANG (1.7 Million)

Is there a more powerful brand in music than BTS right now? I seriously doubt it. Their fashion sparks conversation, their appearances become events, and their music continues to attract listeners at a ridiculous level. ARRIGANG earned the year’s biggest debut after opening with 641,000 units, and every song on the album has already crossed 100 million streams. Those numbers are not simply impressive—they represent complete domination. BTS had to make this list.
5. Olivia Rodrigo – you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love (1.7 Million)

All things being equal, I think Olivia Rodrigo, Drake, and Ella Langley would be battling for the top spot on this list. Olivia had a massive year, with several singles performing well on the Billboard Hot 100, and you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, destroying first-week expectations by moving a whopping 485,000 units. What I love most is how quietly she accomplished everything. There was no unnecessary rah-rah or strange public drama—just an artist who understood her audience and gave them exactly what they wanted. Well done.
6. Don Toliver – OCTANE (1.4 Million)

Quincy is the creator of Ratings Game Music. He loves writing about music, taking long walks on beaches, and spaghetti that fights him back.
