A stadium-sized hip-hop anthem about transforming hardship, patience, and painful defeats into shared success.
You can rap your ass off, but how much substance lives inside those bars? With Chase Murphy, the answer is plenty. Regardless of the beat style placed in front of him, Chase finds a way to deliver something meaningful. As a hip-hop fanatic, I will always appreciate that. His latest single, “First & Goal,” continues the trend while turning his underdog story into a stadium-sized celebration.
Inspired by Chase’s nine years playing youth football, the track features bombastic horns, marching-band percussion, live violin, a co-ed choir, and a satisfying hip-hop knock with slight trap influences. A cast of 27 musicians, including a 10-piece brass band recorded at EastWest Studios, helps the production capture the energy of an actual football game.
Chase brings two important elements to the record. His passionate chorus is infectious, while his verses pack a punch through slick flows and a confident delivery. Lyrically, he reflects on hardship, patience, past defeats, and transforming those experiences into success alongside his team.
“First & Goal” feels communal because it genuinely is. Even its hand-painted artwork supports that spirit. No matter who’s keeping score, I think Chase can say he won with this release.
