Offset is getting back to work during one of the most interesting stretches of his career. Just consider everything he has reportedly experienced over the past few months: a breakup, getting shot, and constant rumors about a possible Migos reunion. Through all that chaos, one thing has remained dependable: He can still rap his ass off.
His latest single, “Something I Need,” makes that clear. The production is smooth but still knocks, blending trap percussion with watery R&B textures that give the track a late-night atmosphere. Offset supplies a rugged yet infectious hook before attacking the verses with vulnerability delivered in a semi-aggressive way.
Lyrically, he focuses on wanting a down-ass woman whose presence makes him feel complete mentally, physically, and spiritually. Naturally, Offset also finds time to fire random shots at his opps because emotional growth apparently has limits.
“Something I Need” is catchy, personal, and pleasantly slight; the kind of effortless record that does not need to scream for attention but gets the job done.
