The body may belong to a dad, but the bars apparently have a lifetime gym membership.
C.Shreve the Professor has been working all year. Between releasing an EP, dropping singles, and getting his touring legs back, the North Carolina wordsmith has remained active. His offering, “Dad Bod,” suggests he saved some of his hardest material for what comes next.
Shreve handles the production, programming boom-bap drums and adding a Moog bassline that gives the track its muscle. The instrumental carries the urgency of a live-show opener and the grit of a freestyle session. Basically, it sounds ready to throw elbows without spilling its drink.
Over that backdrop, Shreve delivers a confident performance filled with steady flows, direct writing, and punchlines that improve once they register. He dismisses fake friends, celebrates remaining authentic, and approaches every verse like his position still needs defending.
The title may poke fun at getting older, but Shreve’s rapping sounds anything but out of shape. His line about having a dad bod while keeping his flow conditioned captures the humor and competitive pride driving the record.
“Dad Bod” serves as the first preview of his self-produced album expected in early 2027. If this is the warmup, the Professor is preparing to make his next lesson loud, rugged, and impossible to ignore.
