Young Thug Announces R&B Album and Teases New Drake Music

If Thug drops an R&B album, I’ll be there by 11:59 that Thursday.

Young Thug is preparing to enter his lover-boy era—but apparently not the heartbreak-heavy version.

The Atlanta rapper has revealed that he plans to release a full R&B album in 2026. Thug made his direction extremely clear, saying he is going for “real R&B” and specifically referencing Mary J. Blige while describing the sound.

However, fans should not expect an entire project filled with sad relationship records. According to Thug, most of the songs will focus on sex and having fun, with only two or three tracks dedicated to heartbreak. In other words, this sounds less like crying outside somebody’s house and more like arriving there after midnight.

An R&B album is not outside Young Thug’s wheelhouse. His unpredictable melodies, elastic vocals, and willingness to bend his voice have always separated him from traditional rappers. Records like “Worth It,” “You Said,” and “RiRi” have already shown how comfortably he can operate in romantic territory.

Thug also revealed that he and Drake have several unreleased collaborations ready. “We got a few songs,” he explained, adding that they plan to release them.

He did not confirm whether those Drake records will appear on the R&B album or arrive separately. A title, tracklist, and exact release date also remain unknown.

For now, Young Thug is going full R&B, heartbreak will be limited, and Drake may be nearby. Start preparing the silk shirts.
