Prince Shakir examines unconditional love and the work required to become a more dependable partner.
Plenty of artists can entertain you, but Prince Shakir might teach you something while doing it. That is one reason I recommend his music. Between the real-ass content and polished approach to the craft, he gives listeners more than an enjoyable beat. His seventeen-track project, ‘Man Plans, God Laughs,’ proves that, especially on “Agape Love.”
The song sits over an organic, almost environmentally friendly instrumental that sounds like fresh air turned into music. It is warm, natural, and calm without becoming sleepy. That peaceful backdrop matches Shakir’s perspective on love perfectly.
Throughout “Agape Love.,” the Charlotte, North Carolina artist explains what unconditional love means to him. He raps about becoming a better partner, correcting personal flaws, and being the perfect support system when somebody needs him. His words feel honest because the track focuses on growth rather than pretending he has every relationship answer figured out.
Shakir keeps the performance interesting by switching between hypnotic melodies and a steady, unfiltered rap style. The transitions showcase his experimental instincts while keeping the message easy to follow.
I cannot imagine “Agape Love.” sounding much purer than it does. It is thoughtful, mature music that encourages self-improvement without turning into a lecture.
