Chuka, The Destroyer is a very impressive singer.
Remember this name: Chuka, The Destroyer. Yes, he has the name of a Marvel villain, but trust me, he has an amazing voice. His latest single, “I’s Role,” shows why.
The track features an earth-shattering, slow-paced bedroom instrumental combining syncopated drums, hypnotic melodies, and enough atmosphere to make somebody dim the lights. Chuka uses that backdrop to surrender to his desires.
Lyrically, he lets his love interest know that no matter how good she believes she is, he is more than capable of meeting her at the rim. The slick way he walks her through everything they might do gives the record an intimate, tension-filled quality without making it sound desperate or cheap.
The simple but effective chorus sticks, while Chuka’s stunning vocals drift through the hazy production like they were built into it. His performance remains calm, passionate, and in control.
That polished sound should not be surprising. The 23-year-old Carson artist of Nigerian heritage writes, produces, and mixes his music, maintaining what he calls “the Chuka touch.” With more than 20 million streams since 2022, he is doing something right.
“I’s Role” is sultry R&B executed with patience, confidence, and great vocal skill.
Quincy is the creator of Ratings Game Music. He loves writing about music, taking long walks on beaches, and spaghetti that fights him back.
