The rapping is on point in this track.
Vgmb jestik might just be my favorite rapper from across the pond. Personally, I rock with how he gets to it in his tracks, putting his head down and spitting with an aggressive, direct rapping style. In his latest single, “Bars on Bars,” he does just that, and I am very happy about it.
Over a cinematic, dramatic beat with the kind of glitchy elements you’d expect from UK rap, Vgmb jestik and GRUMPYSHOSHO trade verses about dominating the mic, climbing out of the mud, and putting bad chicks through mattresses. Whether those chicks are from France is up for debate, but there’s no misunderstanding the confidence these two bring.
What I love is the contrast between their styles. Vgmb keeps things sly but assertive, while GRUMPYSHOSHO sounds like he’s ready to tear through the beat with his grungier, more animalistic delivery. Both hold their own against the dramatic production and make their words count.
All in all, between the impactful production, tough-ass bars, and fire chorus, this track gets the job done.
