This is exactly the vibe I expected for the neon-soaked streets of GTA VI.
I’m not gonna lie, y’all, GTA VI has been highly anticipated by gamers all around the world for years now. And personally, I’m less into ‘pew pew’ or ‘fast car’ type genres and more of a cozy, fantasy kind of girl. But now more than ever, GTA VI is highly anticipated by ME. Why? Because the soundtrack is supposed to be straight heat. And with Justice bringing together Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard for this track, I think we might be in for something special.
“Flower In A Hurricane” proves my point. I mean, they left no crumbs. The track is very ’80s reminiscent, with a heavier pop beat, synths, and a gritty rock ‘n’ roll feel. It has this dramatic, almost cinematic quality that makes the whole thing feel larger than life. SZA and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker sing together on the verses, and her voice meshes flawlessly with his. Their vocals complement each other beautifully, creating this dreamy but powerful sound that pulls you right into the song. Meanwhile, the gritty rock elements give the production an edge that keeps it from feeling too polished or predictable.
The pair sing about love and trust, focusing on devotion through difficulties. There’s something almost romantic about the way the song balances its heavier instrumentation with such an earnest message. It feels like holding onto someone when everything around you is falling apart.
Overall, this track had me imagining myself driving really fast down a forgotten road in the middle of the night, which I think was the goal here. It’s dramatic, nostalgic, and ridiculously cinematic. If this is the kind of energy we can expect from the GTA VI soundtrack, y’all might have to drag me away from the game. I’m already sold.
