Dominic Fike Earns First Hot 100 Top 10 With “Babydoll,” Eight Years After Release

Dominic Fike’s “Babydoll” took eight years to reach the Top 10, so maybe give your favorite song another week.

Dominic Fike just earned his first Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit, and the song responsible has been around since 2018. “Babydoll” reaches the milestone eight years after its original release, proving that some records operate on their own schedule.

The track first appeared on Fike’s EP Don’t Forget About Me, Demos. Now, a song tied to his early introduction is delivering a new chart achievement. That’s a pretty impressive return on something listeners could have discovered years ago.

Fike’s rise to stardom has been slow, steady, and organic. His profile exploded during his time on the Zendaya-starring series Euphoria, but he never stopped making music. He followed his debut EP with projects including What Could Possibly Go Wrong, Sunburn, 14 Minutes, and Rocket. His next project, How To Quit Smoking, is also on the way.

“Babydoll” found renewed attention on TikTok, where users paired its nostalgic guitar sound and confessional lyrics with emotional edits. Those clips helped introduce the song to listeners who may have missed it the first time around, giving an older release a fresh opportunity to connect.

TikTok might just be your best promoter. You can spend months planning a rollout, and somebody with an emotional photo dump might get the job done instead. Kudos to Dominic Fike for the resurgence—and for giving “Babydoll” a reason to take another bow.
