Styles brings his C-game to “Royal Ghost,” and the s**t still sounds fire.

Styles P is one of those rappers who makes you question how comfortable you should feel calling somebody else your favorite. The man knows exactly what to do with a beat, and his latest single, “Royal Ghost,” gives him a smooth setting to remind you.

Following “Set Of P’s,” Styles is keeping things moving toward Ghost of the Past, Present and Future Vol. 1, reportedly the first installment of a three-part project. Though it feels like he’s operating as a retired rapper, the skills are still pretty damn polished.

“Royal Ghost” features buttery-smooth production that draws from Common’s J Dilla-produced “Love Is.” The backdrop feels comfortable enough to sink into, and while Styles sounds pretty chill over it, he still delivers some pretty tough bars about his competitive mindset and love for that sticky icky icky. He also reminds you that testing him can have you ending up with more things than broken number two pencils.

All in all, Styles gives us something slight the old-head rap fans of the world will appreciate. It should also get you excited for what’s next.
