A chill pop-rap track about overcoming obstacles, staying humble, and refusing to lose sight of your goals.
SouthWes is back with another single called “Like Mike! fr.” Early in the track, he mentions working hard, and the release schedule backs him up. Songs like “Lancelot” and “Free Smoke” have already shown his consistency this year. At this point, taking a break might be the only thing he hasn’t released.
“Like Mike! fr” features production that brings together pop, hip-hop, and a hazy vibe that keeps the atmosphere chill. The blend feels easy on the ears, giving SouthWes room to make his words count without having to fight the beat.
His vocals sit somewhere between relaxed and passionate as he discusses overcoming issues, staying humble, having haters, and remaining focused on success. I rock with how those subjects fit together. He sounds motivated, but there’s enough reflection to give that motivation some substance.
What’s cool about the track is how naturally catchy it feels. Nothing sounds like it’s begging for your attention, yet the song gives you reasons to stay. The real-ass lyrics help, too. There’s something here to internalize beyond the vibe.
