BigXthaPlug Recruits Lil Wayne for a Fiery “LITE Remix”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Lil Wayne still has his fastball.

BigXthaPlug is certified at this point. He’s worked with major artists, put up numbers, and shown he can step into other genres without losing himself. Still, getting a Lil Wayne feature will never stop being something worth celebrating. “LITE Remix” gives him that moment.

Does Wayne occasionally release some shaky tracks? Absolutely. But when it comes to his actual rapping ability, I hear very little falloff. This verse is another reminder that he can still make a beat regret coming to work.

The hard-hitting, soulful production practically demands that Wayne go in, and he answers with a relentless flow, aggression, and killer punchlines. More importantly, his bars sound competitive and confident. He sounds interested in proving he can still rap circles around people, and I love hearing that energy from him.

There are flashes here that remind me of the old Wayne without making the performance feel like a nostalgia exercise. He’s engaged, sharp, and fully committed to the verse. BigX landed the feature, and Wayne made sure it was worth the call (Thank God we didn’t see Auto-Tune Wayne).
