“BETTER OVER TIME” could match I Hope You’re Happy’s No. 7 debut with a smaller opening total.
BigXthaPlug’s BETTER OVER TIME is projected to debut at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 33,000 first-week album-equivalent units, according to HITS Daily Double. The figures remain estimates ahead of Billboard’s final results.
If the placement holds, it would match his previous career-high position. I Hope You’re Happy debuted at No. 7 in 2025 with approximately 47,000 units, while Take Care reached No. 8 in 2024. His earlier project, AMAR, peaked at No. 97. The forecast would give him another top-10 album, although with a smaller opening than I Hope You’re Happy.
The album includes “NO LIMIT” with Leon Thomas and “HEAL ME” with Fridayy, alongside “DOUBTED ME,” “I GET IT,” and “ONE.” BigX has also released a “LITE” remix featuring Lil Wayne.
Musically, the project blends hip-hop with soulful R&B, gospel, and pop influences. Its writing explores overcoming obstacles, recognizing disloyalty, processing internal pain, and carrying the weight of success. His deep delivery and signature flow remain central throughout.
Though this is a lot lower than I expected, I think it symbolizes the climate when it comes to record sales these days. Nonetheless, his albums have always aged well, so we’ll see how this one grows.
