Rukmani Delivers Silky Afrobeats Vibes With “Lock It In” Featuring Ema Onigah

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Rukmani’s hypnotic vocals and Ema Onigah’s dynamic verse meet over an easygoing groove.

Born in Nigeria and of Indian descent, singer-songwriter Rukmani knows how to hold your attention. Her hypnotic vocals pull you toward the music, and the smooth backdrops make leaving feel unnecessary. With a single called “Lock It In,” she’s giving that ability a pretty appropriate title.

“Lock It In” leans into easygoing Afrobeats production that frolics along smoothly. It creates the kind of atmosphere you want to sink into without checking how long you’ve been there. Somebody might need to remind you that you have responsibilities.

Rukmani complements it with a hypnotic performance that has moments of passion but remains silky smooth throughout. Her vocals practically slither through your ears, while the lyrics ask her partner to stay focused on keeping their connection alive. She knows what she wants and makes the request sound damn appealing.

Ema Onigah adds a dynamic rap verse, giving the song another texture without disturbing its relaxed mood. It’s the perfect icing on the cake.

Between the inviting production, hypnotic vocals, and spicy lyrics, “Lock It In” gives you plenty to enjoy. I rock with how naturally everything comes together.
