Quavo Brings a Slick Flow to “Pop It”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

This is the Quavo I am used to hearing, but I needed a little more innovation…

Quavo seems ready to move past QROMELIFE, and I’m not mad at what I’m hearing. He dropped four tracks yesterday, and a good chunk of them landed for me. I’m assuming they’re connected to SATCHAMO, but I still need to confirm that. “Pop It” gives us another taste of the familiar Quavo sound.

The production is dark trap with a serious knock, and I think it’s fire. It creates the right setting for him to sound smooth, confident, and a little reckless. Quavo brings a fast-paced flow and plenty of swagger, talking about the women he’s with and the damage being done to their mattresses. His lyrics fit what I expect from him, and the delivery is classic.

My main issue is the chorus. I wanted something more memorable to match the effectiveness of the beat and verses. That said, his swag is on point, and he sounds at home over the production.
